About Gretchen Handy

A native of Harvey, ND, Gretchen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Dakota State University in 1990 and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1993. She was a full-time Assistant Public Defender for the State of Minnesota Board of Public Defense until 2003, and since then has been a three-quarter (3/4) time Assistant Public Defender for the State of Minnesota Board of Public Defense, representing indigent criminal defendants in Felony, Gross Misdemeanor, Misdemeanor, and Juvenile cases in several Minnesota Counties. Since 2003, Gretchen has also maintained a private practice in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Gretchen resides in Grand Forks. She has two children, Sara and Nick. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and reading.
