Sam also maintains an active pro bono practice. He represents immigrants in various stages of offensive and defensive asylum proceedings, volunteers with the Children’s Law Center representing minors in welfare and safety proceedings originating under Minnesota Statute 260C, and currently represents prisoners and detainees in a civil rights action against state actors under federal Section 1983. While in law school, Sam worked with the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, representing death row inmates in state post-conviction proceedings.
Sam currently serves on the Board of Directors for Jack’s Basket, which provides support and resources for families with new babies who have Down syndrome.
