About Kimberly Willoughby

Kim Willoughby lives with her husband and two teenagers in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains just outside of Denver. Kim is an ice rink veteran, having raised one hockey player and one competitive figure skater. Kim’s side gig is as a distillery owner. She and her husband own Vanjak Vodka,  which from her required countless hours perfecting cocktails. Kim’s long term play is to return, part time, to her family’s homesteaded ranch in Bonesteel, South Dakota, where her husband can develop a high rye whiskey, and she can raise bees and take the wealth preservation side of her practice to the next level. She is newly licensed to practice law in South Dakota, and has opened a satellite office (310 Mellette Street, Bonesteel, South Dakota) which includes a reserved parking spot for horses.

Kim is an avid reader and appreciates book recommendations for biographies, history, neuropsychology, and novels by Irish authors.

Kim’s passion for the law arises from her love of constitutional law, teaching and writing.  While she thought she would be a philosophy professor, three generations of lawyers and judges in her family steered her away from that.

Kim loves her area of practice because of the wonderful people she is fortunate enough to work for. Few things in her professional life give her more joy than a well put together spreadsheet, a pile of tax returns, and a plan to help people in an unfortunate time of life to get to a better place.
