About Jeffrey Martin

Jeff comes from a long line of small business owners and approaches his law practice with the same entrepreneurial spirit and pragmatism that his great grandfather used when he founded Martin Carpet Cleaning in 1890, a fourth generation business that’s still in the Martin family. Jeff grew up in Ohio working summers at the family business but embarked on a different path after college. He worked his way through law school as a management trainee and then commercial loan officer at National City Bank (now PNC Bank) and as a law clerk in the Corporate Law Department of Bank One Corporation (now Chase Bank).

After law school, Jeff leveraged his commercial lender experience and legal training as an attorney at Porter Wright in the law firm’s Financial Institutions and Commercial Law Group. Jeff represented banks, credit unions and finance companies before joining Textron Financial Corporation, a Porter Wright client and subsidiary of Textron, Inc., a Fortune 300 company. At Textron Financial, Jeff advised on the purchase and sale of loan portfolios and business units, drafted and negotiated commercial loan and lease agreements, and closed hundreds of asset-based loans and factoring facilities.

Prior to joining Tomasi Salyer Martin, Jeff was an attorney at Farleigh Wada Witt where he represented credit unions, banks and other financial service providers on federal and state regulatory compliance matters, operational issues and consumer and commercial loan transactions. Jeff’s practice encompasses a diverse group of industries and owners including retail, manufacturing, commercial finance, institutional lenders, dentists, and veterinarians. He utilizes his business and finance experience to find practical solutions to close transactions and resolve legal issues while protecting the best interests of his clients.

Jeff also handles a variety of real estate matters, with an emphasis on leasing, acquisitions, sales, and construction and permanent loans secured by market rate and affordable housing (LIHTC) projects.
