Practice Areas

  • Commercial & Business Litigation
  • Whether your business is large or small, the firm’s business and commercial litigation team has the experience and insight to help your business resolve and avoid disputes while keeping your business needs and objectives in mind.

  • Insurance Defense & Coverage Litigation
  • Our attorneys have advised and defended insurance companies and their insureds throughout North Carolina, both in and out of the courtroom, for thirty years. We have the experience and legal expertise to provide sound counsel through every aspect of an insurance matter whether dealing with claim investigation, defense of complex litigation, analysis of coverage, alternative dispute resolution, trial or appeal

  • Professional Malpractice
  • For professionals, nothing is more important than reputation. Malpractice claims attack a professional’s reputation, questioning their competence and care. Our attorneys understand the legal, technical and personal issues these claims can raise, and we have the experience to advise, defend and protect our clients against them.

  • Civil Litigation
  • Whether your claim involves products liability, an auto or trucking accident, premises liability or catastrophic injury, our attorneys have successfully litigated these types of cases throughout North Carolina

  • Construction Law
  • Through initial phases of contracts to completed operations, our attorneys are as versed in the demands upon North Carolina contractors as they are in the courtroom. That experience allows us to implement case strategies to achieve our client’s goals. Our construction litigation team regularly assists construction clients with contract negotiations, risk transfer, liens, construction defect claims, construction site accidents and OSHA investigations and citations

  • Toxic Tort & Class Action Litigation
  • The firm has a proven track record of successfully defending both mass tort and class action litigation in a broad range of substantive areas, including product defects and recalls, toxic torts, and industrial explosions.

  • Appellate Representation
  • Appellate procedure can be complex, technical, and daunting, even for otherwise good trial attorneys. Our attorneys have extensive experience handling appeals before the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

  • Mediation & Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Choosing the “right” kind of mediator can make the difference in whether a lawsuit is resolved or not. Are you looking for someone who can understand a complex case such as professional liability or business? Bonnie Weyher, Barry Cobb and Christopher Skinner are certified mediators and are available to mediate cases in all areas of civil litigation other than domestic matters.
