About Richard Rudolph

A problem solver, Richard B. Rudolph is an innovative advocate for his clients. Mr. Rudolph’s practice focuses on Employment & Labor Law, Business Law (transactional and litigation), and Living Trust work.

He began his legal career as a law clerk, first, in a medium size law firm working in construction defect litigation and personal injury, and later in a small firm practicing in commercial litigation. After earning his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in 1991, he joined a Long Beach law firm focusing on maritime & admiralty law where his practice primarily involved employment and labor law, representing management, as well as business and legal issues across the expanse of American and international maritime and admiralty. While there he played an integral part in bringing an end to a Longshoreman Union strike in Long Beach Harbor.

Mr. Rudolph moved his practice to Orange County and opened the Law Offices of Richard B. Rudolph in 1995. That practice provided legal representation, advice and counsel in employment and labor law and in various aspects of business. This included litigation and transactional work for individuals, start-up companies, and established businesses.

Because the firm worked with so many individuals and small businesses over the years, Mr. Rudolph had the opportunity to represent the interests of a wide variety of employees and employers in all types of matters, from wage and hour claims to terminations, the creation of company handbooks, and in hiring and firing decisions. Representing both sides in the workplace in different matters throughout the years has given Mr. Rudolph a unique perspective and invaluable base of knowledge and experience with which to problem solve and address nearly any type of employment issues that could arise in the workplace.

Based upon Mr. Rudolph’s substantial experience in business law, he was invited to create and teach a business class at Concordia University, Irvine, California, where he taught as a Professor of American Business Law.

In 2016, Mr. Rudolph joined with former law school colleague Stephen J. Chonoles to pool their almost 50 years of combined experience, and formed a law firm in Newport Beach specializing in Business, Employment and Living Trusts. Each of the partners has a solid history of recovering or saving millions of dollars for their clients.

Due to the nature of the firm’s practice and the rapport established between Mr. Rudolph and his clients over so many years, Mr. Rudolph has had the privilege of serving many of the firm’s clients in both their business and personal matters. This includes serving the complete needs of his clients and their families by providing Living Trust packages (Living Trusts, Wills, Nomination of Guardian for Minor Children, Healthcare Directives, Power of Attorney, etc.) for clients who wish to protect their assets from the waste and expense of probate.

He is an active member of the following organizations and their corresponding Sections: California State Bar Association (Labor & Employment Law Section, Trusts & Estates Section) and the Orange County Bar Association (Business Litigation Section, Employment Law Section, Trusts & Estate Section).
