About John Cartier
John Cartier: With seven years experience as an attorney, I provide legal services and advice to clients for various civil, criminal, and government matters. Under Cartier Law, LLC, my core competencies include nonprofit and employment law, policy advocacy, and civil litigation. I have a strong background in constitutional law, voting rights, political campaign compliance, journalism, ballot initiatives, legal writing, and bill drafting. I am certified to practice in both Nebraska state and federal courts.
My working experience includes being General Counsel of For Our Future Action Fund. There I managed their in-house Legal Department and served as liaison to outside counsel, overseeing organizational needs including compliance with non-profit tax law, campaign finance regulations, federal and state lobbying rules, employment laws, contracts, and internal corporate governance.
John Cartier is an attorney and graduate of University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law. John comes to the team with experience working on several elections including his own for Lincoln Board of Education. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, John moved to Nebraska in 2010 to attend Concordia University on a track and field scholarship where he studied marketing and journalism. Now calling Nebraska home, John is excited to help Civic Nebraska achieve its goals of ensuring elections across the state are non-partisan, accessible and modern.
When not working, John enjoys spending time with his wife, son and cat. Occasionally, he can be found jogging along the beautiful MoPac Trail in Lincoln. Spare moments are spent chipping away at his personal goal to read a biography on every United States President.

I found John Cartier Law to be a legal firm that combines the three essential elements: competence, compassion, and conscience. Competence in that the firm provides the highest level of legal assistance and guidance to navigate you through those occasions when such advice is essential. Compassion because they see the law, not a cold, objective rubric by which we are all judged, but as an active tool for empowering individuals and communities. And finally, conscience.
