About Courtney Gilkinson
Courtney M. Gilkinson, a native of Newfoundland, Canada, joined Browning Browning & Gilkinson in the spring of 2014, after completing her first year of law school. Courtney attended Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Legal Studies, as well as a Certificate in Criminology. Courtney earned her Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law in 2016.
While in law school Courtney served as the Vice Justice for the Russell Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International, served on the Executive Board for the Family Law Society, competed in Phi Alpha Delta’s International Mock Trial tournament in Washington, D.C, was chosen as a Student Member for the Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law Inn of Court, and received the CALI award for Immigration Law and Practice for academic excellence.
During her last year of law school Courtney worked for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office where she practiced under the Third Year Practice Act as a Student Prosecutor in the Crimes against Children Unit.
Courtney is a zealous advocate for her clients with extensive experience both in and out of the courtroom, having tried numerous complicated and emotionally intensive family law cases involving complex asset division, custody and visitation, alimony and tax issues. Courtney also is experienced in matters of immigration as it relates to family sponsorship.
Courtney is an active member of the Atlanta and Cobb Bars and is presently serving as the President of the Solo/Small Firm Section of the Cobb Bar for the 2020-2021 year. Courtney was named as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2020, which is a distinction reserved for only 2.5% of attorneys in Georgia.
