About Rachel Einbund

Rachel Einbund is in the business of changing people’s lives for the better. When New York passed the Marriage Equality Act in 2011, Rachel was inspired to open her own law practice. As an immigration lawyer, she recognized an opportunity to help her community in ways that had not yet been possible. The Law Office of Rachel Einbund specializes in marriage and family-based immigration, and a majority of her clientele are same-sex couples and their families. Within the first year of opening her practice, Rachel was recognized as by both the National Association for Professional Women and GO Magazine for being a leading female entrepreneur in the field of immigration. The National LGBT Bar Association named her one of the nation’s Best LGBT Lawyer’s Under 40 – Class of 2015! Rachel continues to be acknowledged for her work and was recently named as one of the 10 Best Immigration Lawyers in New York in 2016 and in the Top 40 Immigration Lawyers under 40 in New York.

A graduate of New York University and New York Law School, Rachel celebrates the melting pot mentality employed by the city. While most immigration firms focus on clientele from one region of the world, Rachel revels in working with people from all corners of the globe. Her firm takes on political asylum cases, working to help her clients and their families stay in this country for fear of persecution for living their lives openly in their home countries. She also takes on VAWA cases, helping victims of domestic violence who want to leave their spouses, but not leave the country. She knows the value of religious, political, and personal freedom, as well as the need for freedom of sexual expression and gender identity.

Rachel fought for the repeal of DOMA by way of a marriage based immigration case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She is a mentor to law students and holds free DACA workshops to help young people legislate their immigration status. For over a decade she has been a member of AILA, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, whose mission it is to promote justice and fair immigration policy. Rachel received AILA’s 2014 Certificate of Achievement as a Pro Bono Guardian for her extensive pro-bono work with minors and special cases. She is a long time supporter of The National Center for Lesbian Rights and an active member of the National LGBT Bar Association as well as its Greater New York chapter. In 2014, Rachel became a Marriage Officiant to further immerse herself in the love, pride, and positivity she promotes. Being a strong female business owner, doing the great humanitarian work she does, Rachel is an inspiration to those in her field as well as her peers.
