About Andrew Small

Andrew Small has been practicing criminal law since 2001. He began his career as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Judge Robert A. Blaeser. He then moved to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office where he worked in the Juvenile Prosecution Division from 2001 to 2003 handling a variety of criminal cases involving juveniles. That experience gave Mr. Small invaluable insight into working with juveniles and within the Juvenile Justice System.

From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Small worked in the Gang Unit at the Hennepin County Attorney’s where he focused on gun offenses. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Small worked in the Violent Crimes Division where he prosecuted cases ranging from felony-level DWIs to homicides. While at the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, he tried more than forty cases. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota and the United States Federal Courts.

Mr. Small has tried over seventy-five criminal cases in both jury and bench trials appearing in adult and juvenile courts.

Mr. Small teaches Trial Advocacy as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He is also a contributing member to the Minnesota DWI Deskbook, an annual publication relied on by professionals statewide.
