About Mark Abbotoy

Mark has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Applied Statistics. Prior to appraising, Mark had a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer and Industrial Statistician, working and consulting for several Fortune 500 companies. His work has been presented to Semiconductor, Automotive, and Telecommunications customers all over the world. His consulting work was in the area of Advanced Statistical Analysis and Designed Industrial Experimentation.

Mark began pursuing his love for real estate both as an investor and developer and finally began Sigma Appraisal Services in 2007. Mark has over 15 years of residential and commercial appraisal experience and has worked for a wide variety of clients throughout the middle Tennessee area.

Mark is an SRA designated member of the Appraisal Institute. The SRA designation stands for Senior Residential Appraiser and is the Appraisal Institute’s most rigorous designation for members who practice primarily residential appraisal work and is held by residential appraisers who are experienced in the analysis and valuation of residential real property. Fewer than 1% of all appraisers nationwide have achieved the SRA designation. To obtain the SRA an appraiser must have more education and experience than a typical licensed or certified appraiser.

Mark is also an MAI designated member of the Appraisal Institute. The MAI designation is held by appraisers who are experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential, and other types of properties and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions. To become MAI designated an appraiser must meet requirements including the completion of demanding education requirements, the passing of 16 hours of comprehensive exams, and the completion of a demonstration of their knowledge in a comprehensive appraisal report. MAI designated appraisers are in high demand by commercial clients, attorneys and investors.

All current appraisers at Sigma Appraisal Services are required to have a 4-year college degree and to take their appraisal education through the Appraisal Institute. They are all encouraged to pursue Appraisal Institute designations.

Sigma Appraisal Services serves the entire middle Tennessee area and focuses on complex residential properties, rural residential properties, agricultural properties, rural commercial properties, self-storage and warehouse properties, apartment complexes, office properties and other commercial and industrial properties.

In addition, Sigma Appraisal Services provides consulting in the area of market analysis, real property appraisal, and advanced statistical analysis.
