About James Davis

In 1985, James A. Davis, an attorney based in Winston-Salem, was admitted to practice in the state courts of North Carolina as well as the federal court for the Middle District of North Carolina. He was also admitted to the U.S. Tax Court in 1990. Throughout his career, Davis has represented individuals and business entities in various legal matters before a range of courts, including the Federal District, State Court of Appeals, Superior Courts, State District Courts, and U.S. Tax Court. He has also assisted clients in dealing with the Internal Revenue Service and Appeals Division of the Internal Revenue Service.

Davis holds several certifications, including a Chartered Life Underwriter from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, and a Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College, also in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He earned his Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law, in Ada, Ohio, in 1984, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class and was a member of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Team. He also completed a clerkship at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Civil Division. He received his Master of Arts from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, in 1975, where he majored in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and a concentration in Corrections. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University, where he majored in Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Corrections. Additionally, Davis was appointed to the Ohio Attorney General’s Student Police Academy and is a Certified Law Enforcement Officer.
