About Jake Yanchar

Jake graduated from Penn State University in 1997. In addition to his Economics degree and minor in Philosophy, Jake also left State College as a National Champion – a member of the first “non-California” team to ever win the Division One Men’s Volleyball Championship. Jake earned numerous student-athlete awards and was a member of the Student-Athlete Academic Advisory Board.

After spending a year in Hawaii after graduation, Jake spent the next three years in South Royalton Vermont, where he earned his JD from Vermont Law School. Graduating cum laude, Jake was a Managing Editor of the Vermont Law Review and taught a first-year legal writing class.

Jake began his legal career at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in New York, NY in 2001. As an associate in the Securities Litigation Group, Jake focused his practice on securities litigation, commercial litigation, regulatory compliance, and white-collar criminal defense. Jake was integrally involved in several high-profile matters, including the defense of the former board members of Tyco International and helping Bear Stearns on many regulatory issues with the NASD.

Aside from his dedication to the practice of law, Jake is also the founder and creator of Diacarta, the acclaimed planning app for the iPhone, as well as derivative versions for the Pitchfork Music Festival. He is a Geauga County Library Board of Trustee, and always seems to find himself coaching one of his children’s sports teams.

When not in court, Jake can usually be found spending time with his children, cooking something yummy for his family, or pedaling his bicycle somewhere in the beautiful countryside of Geauga County.
