About Francis Landry
Francis J. Landry is a lifelong resident of Northwest Ohio. He grew up in West Toledo and graduated from St. John’s Jesuit High School in its first graduating class in 1969. He was valedictorian of his class. He graduated magna cum laude with an Honors Bachelor of Arts (H.A.B.) degree in Classical Languages from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1973. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1976. While in law school, he served as Book Review Editor of the University of Toledo Law Review. He has been engaged in the private practice of law on an uninterrupted basis since November of 1976. He has been with the law firm of Wasserman, Bryan, Landry & Honold, LLP as a partner since March of 1978.
Mr. Landry holds a peer review rating of AV from Martindale Hubbell (Lexis), which is the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethical standards.
He is a member of the Toledo Bar Association where he serves on the grievance investigation and labor and employment law committees. He is a past secretary and chairman of the Toledo Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Committee and a past chairman of the Lawyer Referral and Information Services Committee. He is the current chair of the Federal Court Committee.
Frank is also a past president of the Lucas County Bar Association (1993). He maintains membership in the Ohio State Bar Association, Lucas County Bar Association, Toledo Bar Association, and the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association.
With considerable experience in speaking at seminars over the years, he most recently presented two topics at a seminar entitled “Human Resource Law From Start to Finish” sponsored by the National Business Institute in April of 2015.
He has published a case note titled “Rule 16(b): Definition of Purchase and Sale Date Utilizing a Novel Subjective Intent Finding Approach—Champion Home Builders v. Jeffress, 490 F.2d 611 (6th Cir. 1975)” in the University of Toledo Law Review, 6 U.Tol. L. Rev. 527.
Mr. Landry appeared before the United States Supreme Court and argued the case of Breininger v. Sheet Metal Workers, Local Union No. 6, 493 U.S. 67 (1989). He was successful in obtaining reversal by the United States Supreme Court.
Frank has resided in Sylvania since 1988. His wife, Karen, recently retired, was a longtime nurse at Riverside Hospital and later for the Mercy Health System. She most recently served in Occupational Medicine at St. Charles Mercy Hospital.
