About Monte Davis
Attorney, Monte K. Davis was born at St. Joseph’s hospital in Atlanta in 1965. He went to High Point Elementary School, Sandy Springs Middle School, and Ridgeview High School. Although he played sports and did well scholastically in grade school, he was always better at arguing and debate than anything else.
He spent two years at Georgia State University (“GSU”), followed by three years at the University of Georgia (“UGA”), and graduated with a BS in Psychology and accepted an offer to attend the GSU College of Law, part-time program.
His focus at GSU College of Law was on the following subjects:
- Georgia trial practice and procedure (civil and criminal)
- Litigation (basic and advanced)
- Georgia and Federal Rules of Evidence (basic and advanced)
- Participated in extracurricular mock trial competitions (3 of 5 years)
- Won a regional championship, finished in second place in two national invitational competitions, was awarded “Best Advocate” honors once
- Received several personal achievement and/or appreciation awards from the GSU College of Law
He continued to volunteer his time and experience as an assistant coach for the Student Trial Lawyers Association (STLA) under the direction of Tom Jones, formerly with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, over the next three years following graduation.
He also volunteered my time and experience for two years as an assistant mock trial coach for Centennial High School. One of the Law School teams that he helped to coach post-graduation won GSU’s first National Mock Trial Championship. Mr. Davis is honored to pass along his years of experience by teaching young, aspiring litigators how to mentally approach, prepare, and present cases for a successful resolution at trial.
He spent the 5 years that he was in Law School working at his father’s office, Guy E. Davis, Jr., in the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody area. He helped him prepare criminal, civil, family law, personal injury, negligence, and product liability cases. Upon graduation, he decided to focus his attention on DUI defense litigation so he accepted an offer to share office space with George Stein, Esq. (“The DUI Lawyer”) for two years.
Mr. Davis has also;
- Been active and “in good standing” member of the State Bar of Georgia since February of 1994
- Received specialized training and legal education in the areas of alcohol and drug impairment recognition, apprehension, prosecution, defense, and rehabilitation
- Is NHTSA and INTOX 5000 certified
- Been a member of Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) for his entire career
- Held a membership by application in the Defense of Drinking Driver’s (DODD) network until 2013
- Graduated from the National College for DUI Defense (“NCDD”) summer litigation workshop program on two separate occasions
- Lectured at ICLE legal seminars on DUI, administrative license suspension, and general criminal defense topics on more than10 occasions
- Handled approximately 40 cases in the appellate courts with the vast majority of these cases resulting in favorable decisions for the clients and/or favorable case law for the citizens of Georgia
- Handled several landmark appellate cases that are well known by DUI prosecutors, defense lawyers, and state court judges. (A list of these cases are available upon request or via a quick search on Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, or Casefinder)
