About Scott Novak

Scott Novak concentrates his practice in the area of tax law, with a focus on tax controversy, trusts and estates, planning and transactional tax matters.

Prior to becoming Of Counsel, Scott practiced as a solo attorney with a tax law practice in Hackensack. He has worked as a tax lawyer at Price Waterhouse and MetLife. Scott has been a senior executive responsible for marketing and business development at MetLife, Seligman Advisors (a mutual fund company) and was National Marketing Director for EPS Settlements (a structured settlement company). He has been a life insurance investment producer, having been fully liensed to sell those products. He worked as a lighting technician on many movies, television shows and commercials in New York and has owned a cafe.

Scott’s diverse career has provided him with an unusual combination of expertise, compassion, direct business experience and negotiating skills that complement his practice and enable him to serve his clients well.

Scott has a wealth of experience speaking in the areas of tax law, structured settlements, environmental structured settlements, annuities, investments and insurance. he has written numerous articles and provided many continuing education seminars for the legal, accounting and investment communities. He is an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Scott is a former Chairman of the Montclair Early Childhood Corporation (Montclair Community Pre-K), is a long-time member and former board member of Local 52, IATSE and currently co-chairs the Bergen County Bar Association Tax Committee.
