About Andrew Court
For the last 20 years, Andrew Van Court has been assisting clients with patent procurement and patent portfolio management, technology transactions, and with in-house IP matters. Andy has worked on matters across a wide spectrum of technologies with particular emphasis in electronic devices, backup energy generation, electric vehicle energy management, semiconductors, wireless communications, artificial intelligence, non-volatile memory storage, and powered clothing.
Andy’s clients range from leading multinational corporations to smaller start-ups. He works closely with clients to develop intellectual property asset development and management strategies, drawing on his experience as in-house counsel at a large corporation. He implements those strategies through a wide-ranging patent practice that includes all aspects of practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as patent offices outside of the U.S. When clients enter into transactions involving patents, Andy assists in evaluating the strength of patent portfolios as well as performing other diligence-related IP analysis.
Andy also counsels small and mid-size clients with their in-house IP concerns when such clients do not have dedicated IP counsel. In this role, Andy serves as pseudo in-house counsel and helps such clients harvest IP, vet the IP through patent committees, establish IP budgets, and assist with various IP business needs.
