About Cam McKechnie
In 1973, Cam obtained a Masters degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario, and subsequently worked as an energy economist with both the National Energy Board and the B.C. Energy Commission (now the B.C. Utilities Commission) until returning to law school at U.B.C. in 1981. He was called to the bar in 1985 and initially practiced as a corporate commercial solicitor, primarily in the areas of banking and closely-held corporations.
In the mid-nineties, he moved to the dark side and became a barrister. He has practiced as a commercial litigator ever since, specializing in construction litigation, collections, and property-related disputes. When not practicing law and trying to keep up with his teenage daughter, Cam enjoys reading history, oil painting, travelling, boating and skiing.
Cam has appeared in all courts of British Columbia but now limits his practice to matters in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. He also has extensive experience in mediating settlements and has appeared as counsel on arbitrations.
