About Andrew Mclain
Andy is a native Oregonian. He was born and raised in the Portland area, graduated from Tigard High School, and studied English Literature at Reed College. After earning his degree, Andy worked for a decade in technology– first as a network technician, then an onsite support rep, then eventually as a software developer. Andy left the computer industry and attended law school at Lewis & Clark’s Northwestern School of Law. After graduating law school, Andy worked for five and a half years in Washington County, starting out as a court-appointed criminal defender and juvenile dependency advocate. In 2008 he reduced his court-appointed caseload to focus on private cases, especially family law. In October of 2012, he moved his practice to Downtown Portland and founded McLain Legal. Andy is married, and has two daughters, ages 19 & 14. Andy’s family includes his wife’s first husband Brad, and his wife and sons. In the autumn every year Andy goes out hunting chanterelle mushrooms with his younger daughter, and in winter, practices his choral music for the Christmas Revels, a local arts organization for which he also serves as board secretary. He is active in local Reed College Alumni activities.
